15 years ago, Johnny Joey Jones stepped on an IED bomb while serving in Afghanistan — an explosion that took both his legs and nearly his life.

Every year since, he’s marked his “Alive Day” — a time to reflect on survival, honor those who didn’t make it home, and reconnect with the Marines who were with him that day.

This year, Joey invited his fellow troop members to his farm to reminisce, remember, and celebrate the lives they lost — and the life they still share.
